The New Jersey Youth Corps provides on-going counseling intended to help Corpsmembers overcome barriers to personal, academic, and employment success. They learn skills that will make them more employable and participate in activities designed to help them develop better self-esteem, clarify their values and develop leadership skills.

Utilizing a Curriculum developed by NJYC Staff, we assist young adults onto their ‘next big thing’ whether it be employment, furthering their education, or taking that certificate course to increase opportunities for future employment. Topics covered will include, but not be limited to:

1.)   Self-Assessment;

2.)   Career Awareness & Research

3.)   Labor Market Information;

4.)   Job Seeking Skills;

5.)   Resumes, Application Letters and Application Forms;

6.)   Interviewing Techniques;

7.)   Dependability &  Reliability,

8.)   Personal & Work-related decision making

9.)   Leadership development, and:

10.)  Communication Techniques & Interpersonal Relations, including:

a.     Giving/following verbal/written directions

b.     Accepting/responding to criticism

c.     Cooperating with others in group activities
