Over the sixteen (16) weeks, you will be evaluated and assessed as to how you are progressing toward the following goals:  

  • Completion of the NJYC of Phillipsburg Orientation program
  • Completion of the Employability & Life Skills Curriculum
  • Development and completion of a 'Career Portfolio'
  • Completion of the Community Service component (minimum of 140 hours)
  • Participation in the Basic Skills/HSE preparatory instruction

​​Upon successful completion of the aforementioned goals, you will have successfully completed Youth Corps!  All credentials earned during your tenure will be presented at a Commencement Ceremony on your last day! 

The program operates on year-round basis,

Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm;  Fridays from 8:30-3:00 pm.

Upon acceptance into the program, your experience will be broken into two phases;  Orientation and Regular Program Operations.


The first two weeks you will be assessed on your academic ability through some testing (Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE)) and other assessment tools.  Additionally you will participate in Team Building activities and local field trips to introduce you and your class to some of our partner agencies and familiarize you with our Service Learning Projects.  Upon successful completion of the Orientation, you will be officially inducted into Youth Corps!
